Come learn about Teresa VanDenend Sorge’s method of designing dynamic and feasible performances by students in school settings. She developed this model through Koresh Kids Dance, a series of weekly classes in schools that culminate in performances made out of class “rituals” and poetry, and draws on the language of hip hop to collaboratively build a dance with children. The model can be adapted to a variety of situations. She will demonstrate her model and share videos of the performances.
Since 2000, Teresa has been sharing her talents in various teaching positions including instructor of dance at Hope College in Holland, Michigan; dance instructor at Koresh Dance Company in Philadelphia; and adjunct professor at Temple University. She currently is a full-time lecturer at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and also is the coordinator of Koresh Kids Dance, the Koresh Outreach program. Teresa has performed with Aerial Dance Theatre, PUSH Physical Theatre, and InLet Dance Theatre. She received a B.A. in dance performance/choreography, is certified in dance education for grades K-12, and holds a Master of Dance Education from Temple University.
