Two Philadelphia dance artists will be invited to explore dance and other cultural resources, as research for their own creative work and professional growth, in a 3 week Residency in Budapest, Hungary this Fall 2019, from September 30 thru October 23.

GAME ON! Learning through Movement-based Games with Adina Sosenberg

Throughout her career, Adina Rosenberg has adapted Marianne Torbert’s work in cooperative games to offer players a dynamic experience that highlights creativity in movement, problem solving, and physical/social/emotional skill-building. The interactive chal- lenge combined with the elimination of competition promotes opportunities for joy and personal success.

HULA HOOPS and TAP SHOES: Dance your way to math with Christine Colosimo

Connect to the world of math explored through dance. Hula hoops will lead us to pre-multiplication concepts and tap dance rhythms will take us to multiplication facts, associative and distributive properties, and more. Pick up some learning theory and teaching tools to spark your imagination for connecting academic content to dance. Bring tap shoes if you have them; extra pairs will be provided. These activities are geared towards pre-k through third grade but can be adapted to other settings and populations.

Come to Dance TAG for a chance to check out the world of Latin partner dancing with one of the area’s best teachers! Maestro Flaco will show you the moves, discuss the history, and teach you why this kind of dance is so popular… and important. Learn strategies and tips he has developed in dance residencies and classes and apply them to many kinds of teaching.

Marck “Flaco” Best, a master teaching artist certified by Columbia University’s Teachers’ College, has been teaching social dance for more than 20 years.
