Sneaking Technique into Creative Dance Teaching with Ellie Goudie-Averill
What exactly is PreBallet?… how can fundamental technical skills can be incorporated into early childhood dance classes …and are young children capable of learning these life-long dance skills? Ellie Goudie-Aveill has been investigating these questions for years and will share her perspective and experience. This workshop will include songs, stretches, and creative dance games that incorporate basic dance steps (tendu, passé, arabesque, jump vs. leap)—as well as time, space, and rhythm concepts—in a fun, palatable, and memorable way. We will also discuss ideas for planning lessons around certain skill sets and brainstorm new ideas for weaving in along with tried and true activities.
More Creative Movement Stories with Mady Cantor
Following last year’s DanceTAG session on Movement Stories for the 3-10 year old crowd, Mady Cantor will offer another collection of field-tested dance narratives that offer physical, cognitive, and playful possibilities of storytelling through movement. The written stories and, for some stories, music CDs will be provided
