As arts educators, we impart creative lessons from a set of learned cultural values. What are compassionate, effective ways to use dance education in a cross-cultural setting? Join in for some practical tools and activities to explore the rich cultural background that students and teachers bring to a dance experience. Drawing on her own discoveries as well as experience with Contra-Tiempo in Los Angeles, Dance Exchange, and Yes! And…Collaborative Arts, teaching artist Belle Alvarez will facilitate a workshop that invites dance and arts educators to consider the cultural impact of community arts education.
Honduran born, Philippine and USA raised, Belle Alvarez is an artist and educator working with dance and social engagement at the intersections of art, activism, and interfaith organizing.
